We offer a range of projects and event, some of which are open to any students, others offered to specific groups (for example of funded by alumni gifts). Below gives you some brief details of our main projects, but see our for more information if you're a current student.

We work with your department to embed skills/learning into courses. Our team works across the Faculty and with stakeholders to develop a curriculum that enhances skills, attributes and abilities to secure the outcomes you seek and manage your onward careers with confidence. We help to align programme and curriculum developments with the changing employment landscape.
- Workplace Insights - Easter Internship programme

Our short-term Internship programme enabling our students to make a real contribution to a business, charity or public sector organisation. On Workplace Insights (WI), students work on a project submitted by a partner organisation - one of our trusted and respected student employers - over the course of two weeks to gain work experience. Students will complete the project during the Easter vacation period, supported by a bursary payment paid by the Faculty of Social Sciences.

- City Connections - Business and networking visits in London and Manchester

City Connections is an event designed to support students from under-represented backgrounds to develop their networking and communication skills, commercial awareness and enhance their career prospects. The project provides students with the opportunity to build connections with alumni of the University of 91Ö±²¥ who have reached senior positions in major organisations, and who generously give their time to support the project. Students taking part gain an insight into a wide range of career sectors and hear first-hand from alumni how they have got to where they are today. - Business and Industry Challenge days

Challenge days are a opportunity to work with a business to develop your skills and understanding of a particular sector through team challenges and 'taster' workshops. In the past we’ve ran themed events that have included 'Marketing' and ‘Policy’.

Policy Industry Challenge - The Faculty of Social Sciences runs a Policy Challenge Day with 91Ö±²¥'s own Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).
Students gain practical experience of real-world policy decision-making and insights into careers across a range of Government departments including Education, Health, and Justice.
The challenge involves students working in small groups while representing Government departments in a bid to win funding from the "Chancellor". Groups are encouraged to agree cross-departmental bids and proposals are presented to the "Chancellor" who allocated funding to the winning bids.
When a student was asked about the highlight of the event:
Collaborating with individuals from different backgrounds to collectively decide and evaluate effective policy decisions and their impact on the specific department and also wide reaching impact on the lives of ordinary individuals.

Marketing Industry Challenge with Pricecheck
Pricecheck are a global wholesaler and distributor and are located locally here in 91Ö±²¥! They work closely with many recognisable brands such as L’Oreal, Adidas, and Disney.
Marketing is much much more than advertisement and you may already have the transferable skills needed in this industry such as creativity and problem solving! Most marketing roles are available for students from any discipline.
When a student was asked about the highlight of this event:
The Marketing Challenge was a fun and insightful workshop, reflecting the brainstorming and planning stages of a real-life marketing campaign. It also gave me the opportunity to network with the Pricecheck team and learn about their placement offerings. After connecting with the Head of Marketing and the Recruitment and Engagement Advisor, I went on to secure a marketing placement with them. The Marketing Challenge allowed me to demonstrate my passion for marketing and willingness to learn, which penultimately led to my successful application
