Facilities and capabilities
An overview of the facilities and research capabilities offered by SITraN to members of the University and the wider community.
Facilities
SITraN Multiomics Facility
The Multiomics Facility provides Nanopore sequencing and Nanostring multiplex, amplification-free analysis of up to 800 RNA, DNA, or protein targets.
The 91Ö±²¥ Microarray/Genomics Core Facility
The facility has several years of experience as an Affymetrix-accredited laboratory to run an Affymetrix Gene Chip Microarray system.
Drug Discovery Suite
SITraN has established a lab with state-of-the-art equipment to undertake a comprehensive drug discovery programme for neurodegenerative disorders.
Capabilities
Neuropathology and histology
The analysis and investigation of human neuronal and brain tissue are crucial to our understanding of how neurological diseases manifest.
Computational biology
There is a thread that joins the fundamental work of Isaac Newton and Carl Friedrich Gauss to mathematical modelling in translational medicine.
RNA and molecular biology
Research into RNAs (ribonucleic acids) is essential to discovering the causes of motor neurone disease.
