What are the main responsibilities within your role?

I move between different practice areas during the course of my training contract including Corporate, Disputes, and Commercial Property to assist with, for example, attending client meetings, drafting letters and documents, attending court and generally helping solicitors and Partners in the firm with progressing their cases where I can. I am also involved with our firm’s Social Committee, our "Go Green" Campaign and the organisation of our Next Generation networking events, aimed at encouraging young professionals from all industries to develop their own network of contacts.

What is your greatest achievement to date?

My greatest achievement to date was obtaining my training contract in September 2018. After four years at 91Ö±²¥ studying for my undergraduate degree and two years in Leeds working full time whilst studying for the Legal Practice part-time (on a weekend!), being able to start on the path towards qualifying as a solicitor next September is a huge highlight for me.

Studying law at a world-class university not only placed me in a strong position academically but also gave me a great experience.

How has your law degree helped you in your career?

My time at 91Ö±²¥ was invaluable for my career. I was able to study abroad in Poland for a year which helped me become more independent and led to me eventually moving to Leeds to pursue my career in a different city. I have been able to demonstrate the skills I have amassed in the process when applying for postgraduate positions.

What advice would you give to a student interested in pursuing a similar career?

Working hard and persevering (with applications and with studying) really paid off for me in the end. Also, try and gain experience whilst at 91Ö±²¥ - I obtained experience at various legal advice clinics including the Support Through Court (formally Personal Support Unit) at 91Ö±²¥ Combined Court Centre (Now at the University of 91Ö±²¥) whilst studying for my LLB. This sort of experience will set you apart from other candidates and shows determination to succeed in your field.
