The English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC) offers a wide range of English language courses for staff, the general public, and students on degree courses at the University of 91Ö±²¥.

Information for current students on degree programmes

The ELTC offers a range of courses for current students to help you improve English language, develop intercultural awareness, and enhance your communication skills in academic and non-academic contexts.

  • Credit and not-for-credit modules 

You can take an English for Academic Purposes module in Reading and Writing or Speaking and Listening as part of your degree (through guided module choice) or alongside your degree (not-for-credit modules). You can find more information on our ELTC English Modules Options webpage.

  • English Language Support (non-fee paying)  

We offer a range of  free services to help you develop your academic literacy, English language and communication skills. You can find more information on the ELTC Language Support webpages.

  • Departmental Language Programme (non-fee paying)

We work with academic departments to give you subject-specific English language and academic literacy support.  You can find more information about the departments we work with

  • Part-time English Courses (fee-paying) 

We offer part-time courses if you want to develop your communication skills in English or if you want to prepare to take an internationally recognised English language test (IELTS or Cambridge English Exam). You can find more information about our courses here


Information for staff and members of the public

We offer a range of fee paying courses to University staff and members of the public. From general English courses that include building vocabulary, improving  speaking and writing skills and grammatical accuracy, to exam preparation courses where you can prepare and practise for  IELTS and Cambridge English Exams.
