Overview

The UHS team includes a number of different healthcare professionals. These include:

  • General Practitioners (GPs)
  • Nurse Practitioners
  • Practice Nurses
  • Pharmacists
  • Physios
  • Healthcare Assistants
  • Care Coordinators 
  • Social Prescribers 

They all have different specialties so you will be offered an appointment with the most appropriate person according to your needs.


Mental health

Get in touch if you have any questions or concerns about your mental health. We offer support directly and work with other mental health service providers within the University itself and across wider 91Ö±²¥ to make sure you are well supported.

Long term condition management

We have dedicated clinics for various long term conditions, including:

Eating disorders

We provide a specialist eating disorders service. You can access this by speaking with a GP or nurse, or by self-referring.


Contraception

Clinics and services on offer include:

  •  Repeat contraception
  • Emergency contraception
  • Family planning
  • Contraceptive coil (IUD) 
  • Implants

Sexual health

Various sexual health services are available direct from UHS and from other services in 91Ö±²¥. These are free, confidential and non-judgemental. 

Services include:

  • Female sexual health screening
  • Male sexual health screening
  • Chlamydia screening programme
  • Cervical smear (pap smear)
  • Weekly sexual health drop-in clinics at UHS

Travel health

If you’re travelling abroad we provide a free travel risk assessment to discuss recommended vaccinations and how to get them. Some vaccinations are free whilst others must be paid for. 

We offer certain vaccinations at the practice, and can signpost you to services that provide any vaccinations that we don’t offer.

Physiotherapy

We offer NHS physiotherapy appointments to help restore movement and function when you are affected by injury, illness or disability. 

You can book a physiotherapy appointment directly, without needing to see a GP first, just tell us you want a "First Physio Appointment".

Flu vaccinations

Every year we provide a free NHS flu vaccine to eligible patients. We will usually invite you if you are eligible.

Check the to check if you’re eligible, and see where you can pay to get the vaccine if you are not eligible for it on the NHS. 

If you think you are eligible but have not been invited, then let us know you want to book in.


NHS Health Checks

Patients registered in 91Ö±²¥ aged 40-74 without qualifying underlying health conditions, who have not had a health check in the past 5 years, are eligible for a free NHS health check. We will contact you if you're eligible and invite you to attend.

Additional clinics

We provide services for more than just those described above, including:

  • Minor illness / ailments
  • New Mother and Baby Clinic
  • Phlebotomy (blood tests)
  • Other vaccinations, eg HPV
  • Social prescribing

Chargeable services

Medical services required for business, travel and leisure are not funded by the NHS. There’s a charge for these services, and you’ll always be informed in advance if there’s a fee to pay.
