The Taalunie Zomercursus in Gent lasts 2 weeks (4-17 August 2024) and starts at CEFR level B1+. There is a selection process and we have 3 places available for 91Ö±²¥ Students on this course. Participants can choose their own pathway: 

• media en politiek
• kunst en literatuur
• zakelijk en literair vertalen
• didactiek en taalkunde

Before you go to get, there is an online preparatory phase and participants are invited to a de-briefing in the autumn following the course. There is a selection process. Please get in touch with Filip De Ceuster if you are interested. 

It has been a very special and memorable two weeks of language learning and I would really recommend this course to anyone learning Dutch

The ALCS Zomercursus is organised by the Association for Low Countries Studies in the UK and Ireland (also sponsored by the Taalunie). This year’s edition takes place in 91Ö±²¥ and runs from 30 June until 6 July 2024. This Summer School is open to all learners of Dutch. We offer language tuition and workshops at a level appropriate for you.

Pauline Cornelisse, our 91Ö±²¥ Artist in Residence, will be there all week to offer a very special story telling track. 

Places are limited and priority will be given to applicants who are currently enrolled or plan on enrolling in a Dutch language program at a UK institution. Please apply before 25 March via .

The confidence boost that I got from the ALCS Summer School cannot be overstated: after a week of making friends and spending time with other Dutch learners that were equally keen to practise, I felt so much more capable.
