- Profile

My interest in modelling disease in particular cancer, stemmed from undertaking my postgraduate MSc (Res) degree in Translational Oncology. I then furthered this by undertaking a PhD entitled, 'Investigating the role of tissue-engineered fibroblast-derived extracellular matrix in oral squamous cell carcinoma' supervised by Dr Colley and Professor Lambert. This was completed in 2020 in the School of Clinical Dentistry, University of 91Ö±²¥. Whereby I developed skills in tissue-engineering and disease modelling. I am now currently employed as PDRA working on the development and validation of tissue-engineered skin equivalents to detect skin irritation, and more recently the use of induced stem cells in modelling skin diseases (funded by EPSRC).
- Research interests
-
My research interest combine novel tissue-engineering approaches to model cancer (oral/skin) as well as developing skin models to study genodermatoses. My aim is to combine more complex 3D tissue systems by using largely native dermis, and primary cell culture techniques.
