Cohort 3 joined the team in September 2016 and are settling into PhD life with the help and support of our other centre students.
Induction week this year included a one-day student conference with special guest speakers from Rolls-Royce and NPL, who highlighted the importance of tribology in industry. Our current students also presented a workshop on 'Being a Researcher' in the centre and current mini-project work they've undertaken.
We also squeezed in a GoApe experience in which we all survived the high tree climbs and zip wires and where even the centre manager got through it broken-bone free!
Finally we finished the week off with a BBQ in the sun and managed to identify the most competitive members of the team through a 'friendly' game of lawn croquet!
