More than just a PhD

Our students have the opportunity to be involved in just more than research throughout there time with the iT-CDT. Not only is our programme designed to equip our researchers with relevant tribology training and a physical sciences background, we provide training beyond tribology, providing professional skills needed for either a successful career within industry or academia. Both universities have a strong provision through our respective Doctoral Development Programmes, and the combination of appropriate training activities will form a foundation professional skills training.

Our researchers are actively encouraged to take part in a number of Outreach and Public engagement activities which include STEM events for school children, Maths Tutoring in local secondary Schools, filming for BBC Bitesize shows and presenting their work at both national and International conferences and events. We even encourage the odd 'pub' presentation as demonstrated this year by CDT third year student Sam McMaster at Pint of Science 2018.
