Professor Hindmoor has been based in the Department of Politics & International Relations since 2013, and has been actively involved in SPERI for much of that time. He has been on research leave and served as Head of Department in Politics & IR in recent years. In October 2023, he took up the post of Co-Director of SPERI, while continuing as Professor of Politics where he teaches modules on Britain in a New Age of Crisis and The Left.
Professor Hindmoor is the author of a number of books on the 2008 financial crisis, governance theory, British politics and rational choice theory. His most recent book, Haywire: A Political History of Britain Since 2000, will be published by Penguin in June 2024. Between 2017 and 2023 he was the editor of Political Studies and is now an Associate Editor of New Political Economy.
Colin Hay commented, 鈥淚t鈥檚 not exactly a novelty to be working with Andy. We have had cognate research interests for a long time and we knew each other well before either of us was at 91直播. But it is exciting for me to have the chance now to work with him as co-Director of SPER - at a time when the political economy challenges the world faces are certainly greater than they have been in my lifetime鈥.
Andrew commented, "I鈥檓 really looking forward to working with Colin and colleagues within the Department of Politics and across the Faculty of Social Science to develop a series of new research initiatives within SPERI and, in doing so, to provide a platform for a broader political economy debate".
Andrew is replacing Dr Hannah Lambie-Mumford, who has recently taken up the position of Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the Faculty of Social Sciences. We congratulate Hannah and wish her luck in her new role. Hannah remains a fellow of SPERI, and is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Politics & IR.
