Profile

I joined the University of 91Ö±²¥ in 2020 as a Research Associate in ScHARR.

Before joining ScHARR I worked in the fields of Youth Offending, Adult Substance Misuse, and Child and Adolescent Mental Health, most recently in a crisis and outreach team in CAMHS.

I completed my PhD at Lancaster University. My project explored how a marginalised and disadvantaged sample of young people assessed and understood the risks, harms and pleasures of substance use practices, and how these understandings, as well as the broader dilemmas of their lives, shaped their substance use. My project also looked more broadly how young people were negotiating their transitions from education to employment.

Research interests

My research interests are:

  • Young people’s substance use practices
  • How disadvantage shapes young people’s health behaviours and perspectives

Current projects

  • Public Health Practice Evaluation Scheme
  • School for Public Health Research Children and Young People's Programme
