I joined the University in 1998 as a Clinical Lecturer in Histopathology. I rapidly became involved in the delivery and management of the MBChB curriculum.

In 2002 I designed the first phase of the curriculum, which was launched in 2003. I was awarded a Masters in Education in 2003 and a Senate Fellowship for Excellence in Learning and Teaching in 2005.

In 2010 I was voted Personal Tutor of the Year for the Faculty of Health by the University of 91ֱ�� Union of Students.

In 2011 I was voted Lecturer of the Year by the Medical Society.

I have previously been Director of Undergraduate Admissions, a role in which I revised our selection processes and contributed to the plans to expand the number of medical student places.

I am now a Professor of Medical Education. I am the MBChB Co-Director (Early Years). I am a member of the University Discipline Committee.

Research interests: My research interest is the use of selection methods to choose from applicants to the MBChB programme.

Professional activities and memberships

I am the Director of Education in the Academic Unit of Medical Education and coordinate the department's education activities.

I am Co-Director of the MBChB degree programme at the University of 91ֱ��, with responsibility for the early years (Phases 1, 2a and 2b).

I run the online histology course for Phase 1 MBChB students. I coordinate the first teaching block (Introduction to Medicine and Medical Sciences) of the programme.

I deliver lectures on histology, physiology and pathology to students in Phases 1 and 2 of the MBChB curriculum.

I am Chair of the Council of the Association of Clinical Pathologists and previously have been Education Secretary, Website Content Editor and chair of the Communications Committee.

I have been an external examiner at the University of Warwick, Hull York Medical School and the University of Manchester.
