I am a senior research fellow in the Mental Health Research Unit at the School of Medicine and Population Health and a registered Senior Occupational Therapist specialising in mental health. I focus on qualitative and mixed-methods research, project management, and public engagement within mental health research.
My research expertise includes
- Qualitative research methods, narrative reviews, and realist evaluations
- Leading participatory co-production approaches with service users and professionals
- Communicating research progress and findings through social media, websites, blogs, YouTube, podcasts, and academic presentations
My research explores factors that influence mental health and wellbeing, with a strong emphasis on understanding the lived experience narrative and using co production methods. I enjoy public engagement and ensuring impactful and effective communication throughout research projects. I was awarded the HSR UK Future Leaders in Health Service Research award for my work on workforce retention.

- Teaching activities

As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Authority (SFHEA), I have experience teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in occupational therapy, public health, and research methods. I continue to guest lecture at Hallam University and have taught at the University of 91Ö±²¥ since 2015.
I enjoy supervising masters students with an interest in mental health service provision and deliver as well as service user perspective and inclusive research methods.
