Winners of Public Health poster competition announced

We are delighted to announce the winners of our Medicine, Dentistry and Health Public Health Poster Competition, which saw GCSE and 16-18 Science and Health Students research and design posters on a range of topics - from smoking to obesity.

The competition was open to students studying at KS4 and KS5 level, with one winner in each category receiving a £50 gift voucher and 10 runners up being awarded £25 gift vouchers.

Medical students Amber and Rebecca from the University of 91Ö±²¥ judged the submissions on Tuesday 2nd May, scoring points for creative flair, the breadth of information provided, and the clarity of the messaging for the general public.

We are delighted to announce that Angel, from our KS4 category, and Jobitta, from our KS5, were declared the winners of our inaugural public health poster competition.

Our student ambassadors were impressed by all the submissions, but Angel's poster on obesity and Jobitta's submission on oral health were not only visually engaging but gave in-depth insights into each topic.

Thank you so much for such a wonderful opportunity. I would like to thank my teachers, my friends and my family for their encouragement and support. They suggested several health issues that I could have done for the poster, but oral health was something I did not think was very important initially and was mind blown when I found out how oral health relates to overall health. I would encourage others to lead a healthier lifestyle by making positive habits in their everyday activities.

Jobitta, KS5 public health poster prize winner

Angel and Jobitta will join the other prize winners in their categories at a Healthcare workshop in our Clinical Skills Centre at the Northern General Hospital, where they will be awarded their prizes and meet some of our current Medicine, Dentistry and Health students.
