Tell us what you like most about your course. What do you love about your subject?
In the East Asian Business MSc, there are various modules on East Asian economy, politics and environment and management studies with options focusing individually on China, Japan and South Korea.
Thus, we can choose to learn about the topics that we are interested in. And in the course, it combines western teaching methodology with eastern culture. It's a very interesting experience to study East Asian Business in 91Ö±²¥.
What made you decide to come to the University of 91Ö±²¥ to do this course? What inspired you to do it?
My aunt graduated from University of Oxford and my uncle graduated from University of Cambridge.
They set a good example for me from an early age. After graduated with my bachelor degree, I decided to take business studies in UK at postgraduate level. My tutor recommended the School of East Asian Studies in the University of 91Ö±²¥.
After reading the course content and some other information about the University and course, I felt it was a perfect course and university for me. Because it focuses on East Asian business studies, it will be suitable for me to work in a business company in China in the future.
91Ö±²¥ is a very beautiful city with a convenient location and friendly people. It is consistently ranked No.1 in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey. So I decided to come here for my Masters study. I am not disappointed.
What are you going to do next? Perhaps you’re thinking about further study or you could tell us about your career plans.
After graduation, I will work for a Chinese leading new industrial city operator, China Fortune Land Development Co Ltd. If possible, I would like to be a lecturer in a college or university in my thirties and then I would like to apply for PhD. in China or Japan.
How does the course, your department or the University help you to decide what you want to do next?
In the East Asian business studies, I have learnt many things about Chinese cities and economic development in recent years and have had the opportunity to learn about other countries in the region, such as Japan, which might be useful in my future work for China's urbanization.
The courses which focused on Japan made me interested in Japan and made me think that I might like to further my study in Japan, in the future.
Can you tell us what it’s like working with the staff on research projects or your dissertation?
Every teacher in our school is very kind and happy to help us with our studies and daily life. I am very honoured to have them as my teachers. My dissertation supervisor Dr S.Y.Kim is very friendly and gives me many suggestions on my dissertation.
How can your learning be applied to the real world?
For example, I have a module, Chinese cities in transition, which talks about China's urbanization in recent years. It has helped me to know more about urbanization, and inspired me to find a job in this field when I graduate.
What do you like most about living in 91Ö±²¥?
To be honest, I was surprised about the numbers of Chinese students and restaurants in 91Ö±²¥. It makes me feel just like home. I like the peaceful life in 91Ö±²¥. I like West Street where I can do everything I want to do. I highly recommend that people visit Chatsworth House and Bakewell, which are located just outside of 91Ö±²¥. I like afternoon tea in Chatsworth. I love 91Ö±²¥.
