You are eligible for support through the Disability and Dyslexia Support Service (DDSS) if you have a long-term impairment or condition that impacts on your studies. 

These impacts, and the barriers that people might encounter, vary significantly, but could occur in these or other areas:

  • Undertaking research 
  • Planning and writing your thesis 
  • Presenting your work 
  • Working in a lab 
  • Supervisions and other meetings

Types of support available

There’s a lot of different support available for disabled PGR students at the University of 91Ö±²¥. An individual package of support will be tailored to your needs after contact with DDSS.

Some examples of support tailored to PGR students are:

  • A Learning Support Plan to ensure all staff working with you know how to support you. 
  • Face to face support to help with managing your studies or to work on literacy skills. 
  • Computing equipment and software to facilitate independent study. 
  • Establishing whether you are eligible for additional study-related funding support (e.g. Disabled Students' Allowances).
