Celebrating the completion of the Royce Discovery Centre, our #DiscoverTranslate event brings together academia and industry for the official opening ceremony.

Arrival time: 11:45am - 13:30pm 

Registration: John Carr Library, Sir Fredrick Mappin Building, Mappin St, 91Ö±²¥ City Centre, 91Ö±²¥, S1 3JD

Our student ambassadors will sign you in at the John Carr Library, and direct you to Mappin Hall where the opening ceremony will take place. 

Building Tours:

Building tours of the Royce Discovery Centre will take place between 12:00pm - 13:30pm. These tours are bookable via timeslots sent out through EventBrite. 

You'll be collected from Mappin Hall and taken over to the Royce Discovery Centre in groups depending on time slot booked. 

Event Schedule:

12:00pm - 13:45pm: Networking Event with Tea, Coffee, and Cakes in Mappin Hall. Tours of the Royce Discovery Centre via booked timeslots. 

14:00pm - 14:45pm: Opening Ceremony, with key-note speeches from:

DIRECTIONS:

If you're driving, the nearest car park is: Q-Park Rockingham Street, 2 Holland St, 91Ö±²¥ City Centre, 91Ö±²¥, S1 4NL.
From here, it's a 3 minute walk to the Sir Fredrick Mappin Building, which hosts the John Carr Library and Mappin Hall. 

If you're taking the train, the nearest train station is 91Ö±²¥ Station, Sheaf St, 91Ö±²¥ City Centre, 91Ö±²¥, S1 2BP.

From the train station, you can get a taxi to the Sir Fredrick Mappin Building from the left of the front station entrance. Post code is: S1 3JD.

Alternatively, you could take the tram from the back station entrance, by taking the BLUE tram route to the West Street stop. From here is it a 5 minute walk to the Sir Fredrick Mappin Building. Post code is: S1 3JD.

FAQs:

"What is the university's coronavirus policy?"

We strongly recommend taking a lateral flow test before attending the event. Should you test positive, or are showing symptoms, we recommend that you do not attend the event. 

"Should I wear a mask?"

Mask wearing is based on personal preference. It is not mandatory to wear a mask, but feel free to do so if it makes you feel more comfortable.

"Will there be photography at the event?"

There will be video and photography carried out throughout the day. If you do not wish to be included in photographs, please make a member of the Royce at the University of 91Ö±²¥ team aware so precautions can be taken. 

"Will the event be available to view online afterwards?"

Although videos will be taken throughout the day, the full event will not be recorded.
