An astroparticle physics researcher has won an Institute of Physics (IoP) award for the PhD thesis they completed at the University of 91Ö±²¥.
Dr Jost Migenda was named winner of the Astroparticle Physics Thesis Prize at the IoP Astroparticle Physics Group's annual general meeting.
The winning thesis, , focusses on how the international Hyper-Kamiokande experiment could help scientists understand what happens when a star explodes at the end its life in a supernova.
The Hyper-Kamiokande experiment, based in Japan, involves work from several University of 91Ö±²¥ physicists including Dr Matthew Malek and Dr Susan Cartwright, who supervised Jost's PhD.
Jost, who is now a Research Associate at King's College London, said: "I am very excited to win this prize; not just for myself but for the hundreds of amazing colleagues around the world who are working hard to make Hyper-Kamiokande successful!"
