Paying your tuition fees is a crucial part of your registration at University. It’s important to know how to do this correctly, as well as the things you need to look out for.

Before you start your course, ensure that you read and understand the information below.

Tuition fee fraud

Scams and fraud are the fastest growing form of crime, so you need to know how to protect yourself against them.  

Never share your personal information (including your University username and password) with anyone else. 

Protecting yourself from scams and fraud

If a company, or someone online, offers to pay your fees at a reduced price, do not respond.

These services are not authorised by the University of 91Ö±²¥. If you use these services, you may lose your money. This is because there is no guarantee that payments will be correctly paid to the University.

These services may be recommended to you by friends or family who do not realise the services are not legitimate. 

Be wary of approaches made on social media such as WeChat, Facebook, Instagram, or any other method other than information given to you directly from the University.

Don’t be pressured into making payments - criminals will try to rush or panic you.

If you're unsure of your fee status, check our fee status page carefully to make sure you've understood the rules correctly. If you think your fee status may change at some point in the future, you should defer your entry until then.

You will be sent a link asking you to complete your pre-registration actions and one of these actions is to complete the Financial Declaration.

How to pay your tuition fees

Registration and paying your fees

Once you’ve read and understood the important information, you can pay your tuition fees.

You have to pay your tuition fees as part of your registration at the University. 

You will be sent a link to the Online Registration portal asking you to complete your pre-registration actions. This is where, in advance of the course start date, you either pay your tuition fee in full or set up payment by two instalments. Payment of tuition fees can only be made using the Online Registration portal.

Registration for new students

If you are unable to pay in advance then you must arrange to pay tuition fees before you attend Registration.

If you have extenuating circumstances for delaying payment, temporary registration  may be given for up to three weeks. You must provide the payment within this three-week period.

Payment options for self-funded students

Before making any payments, read the important information above on tuition fee fraud.

Payment options for self-funded home students

Option one: Payment in full 

You can pay using a credit/debit card or American Express.

Within online registration, select the 'pay in full' payment option.

Make payment by credit or debit card

  • Our partner Flywire will process your payment 
  • You will pay in the currency of the country you select when making your payment (for example if you select country United Kingdom, you will pay in pounds sterling GBP)
  • You can pay using a credit/debit card or American Express
  • To make sure your payment is successful, let your card provider know in advance how much you will be paying for your tuition fees
  • Payment verification is immediate and we usually receive the payment two days later.

Option two: Payment in two instalments

You can pay in two instalments by:

  • Direct Debit 
  • Credit or debit card

If you are self-funding £1,000 or more of your tuition fee and you attend for the full academic year you can pay in two instalments.

Example: 50% in October and 50% in February

If your course start date is not between August and October, you will pay 50% when you register and then the remaining balance four months later.

Within online registration:

  • Select the 'pay in two instalments' payment option
  • Payment is by Direct Debit if you have a UK bank account 
  • Payment is by credit or debit card (recurring card payments) if you do not  hold a UK bank account 

Make payment by Direct Debit

  • If you have a UK bank account, payment is by Direct Debit
  • To allow your bank time to set up the payments, this option is only available until two weeks before the first instalment date
  • After providing bank account details, you can change your bank details until two weeks before the instalment date
  • Payment is automatically collected by the University on the due dates.

Make payment by credit or debit card (recurring card payments)

  • If you do not hold a UK bank account, payment is by credit or debit card (recurring card payments)
  • You can pay using a credit or debit card (Visa, Visa Debit, Mastercard, JCB)
  • Payment will be requested in pound sterling GBP
  • To make sure the payment is successful, let your card provider know in advance the payment dates and how much you will be paying for your tuition fees
  • After providing card details, you can change your card payment details until the day before the instalment date
  • Payment is automatically collected by the University on the due dates.

Payment options for self-funded overseas students

Option one: Payment in full 

You can pay your fees in full by:

  • Credit or debit card
  • Card, bank transfer or e-wallet using Flywire or Convera 

Within online registration select payment option pay in full.

Make payment by credit or debit card

  • You will pay in the currency of the country you select when making your payment
  • To make sure the payment is successful, let your card provider know in advance how much you will be paying for your tuition fees
  • Payment verification is immediate and we usually receive the payment two days later

Our payment partners Flywire and Convera offer secure payment options from over 240 countries and territories, in more than 140 currencies.

Flywire offers payment by card, bank transfer and e-wallet. 

Convera offers payment by bank transfer.

  • You can pay using a variety of UK or International cards, bank accounts or e-wallets
  • Payment is usually received by the University within two to seven days

Option two: Payment in two instalments

What if I cannot provide a sponsor letter in advance or at registration?

If you are still awaiting a letter from your sponsor, temporary registration will be given for up to three weeks. You must provide the missing documentation within this three-week period. 

If you fail to keep Student Registry informed of the position, your temporary registration will lapse and you may lose permission to use the University facilities and attend lectures.

Do not assume that a sponsor will contact the University on your behalf. It is your responsibility to provide complete financial information and payment.

Tuition fee payment receipts

If you pay your tuition fees by debit or credit card, the account holder will receive an email receipt. 

If you pay your tuition fees via our payment partner Flywire, you can request a receipt from the Flywire portal.

What happens if I default on my payment?

If we don’t receive your payment by the due date and you haven’t contacted us in advance:

  • Your registration will be subject to immediate review and could be cancelled.
  • Your computer facilities could be cancelled.
  • Your registration may only be renewed once you have paid all of your fee or have made a satisfactory arrangement to pay your fee.

We reserve the right to insist that payment is made in full at the start of each year of study, so you should honour all your payments if you want to continue paying in instalments.

What if I decide to leave my course or take a break from studying?

If you're taking a leave of absence, withdrawing or transferring from the University, you will need to know how this affects your tuition fees.
