Attend your Right to Study check
Once you’ve completed your online pre-registration tasks, you must attend an in-person Right to Study check to have your immigration documents verified. You’ll then be able to complete your registration with the University.
Overview
If you're a distance learning student you don't need to attend an in-person right to study check. You’ll be prompted to upload any immigration documents online as part of your pre-registration steps.
You’ll receive an email from preregistration@sheffield.ac.uk at the beginning of September asking you to book an appointment to attend a Right to Study Check.
Appointments will be available from Monday 16 September - Friday 27 September 2024 and will take place at:
Sports Hall 1
Goodwin Sports Centre
Sports 91Ö±²¥
Northumberland Road
S10 2TY
If you have limited mobility or you’re a wheelchair user
Contact disability.info@sheffield.ac.uk in advance of attending your Right to Study check so we can assist you with any alternative access arrangements.
What happens at your appointment
- A member of staff will verify your identity and scan your immigration documents;
- We’ll issue your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) if you chose to have this posted to the University and we’ve received it;
- You’ll be asked to complete your final registration steps;
- Once you’ve completed registration, we’ll print your student UCard.
Before you attend your appointment
You must have:
- completed all of the online pre-registration tasks outlined on this page
- uploaded a passport style photo for your UCard via pre-registration
- applied for your Student Visa, if you’re being sponsored by the University
