Performance spaces

Performance is at the heart of the Department of Music, from the multi-genre Concert Series to our many student ensembles. The University's portfolio of five venues offers a range of strengths for different types and styles of performance.

Firth Hall

Set in the stunning Edwardian Grade II listed Firth Court, Firth Hall is a beautiful 380-seater recital hall with a spacious stage. With its high vaulted ceiling, large leaded windows and oak panelling the Hall lends itself perfectly to a musical setting.

It is the home of the University’s multi-genre which boasts over 100 concerts and musical events involving scores of international and award-winning performers, a kaleidoscope of choirs, collectives, composers, conductors, and many different ensembles.

Firth Hall is also our main rehearsal space for large ensembles.

Mappin Hall
