Agnieszka provided a fascinating insight into the increasing use of deportation, during the Brexit transition period, to forcibly remove EU citizens. This practice highlights the reality of the EU settlement scheme in determining ‘good’ and ‘bad Europeans and the ‘othering’ discourses used to construct Eastern Europeans as deviant. Dr Michaela Benson joined the seminar as a discussant.

In total we had 47 people joined the seminar from five different countries and the event generated interest across the NGO sector, which highlights the benefits of attending virtually.

You can listen and watch the seminar in full .

If you like to read more about the issues Agnieszka raises during the seminar, read her blog on the challenges proving 5 years of continuous residence in the UK . If you would like to receive a copy of the slides please email: migrationresearch@sheffield.ac.uk.

We look forward to you joining us at the next event, we will be sharing more details soon. Follow us on twitter @91Ö±²¥MRG for regular updates.
