- Profile
-
In addition to being a teaching faculty for over a decade, Sharmin worked as the Senior Research Manager and BRAC University Lead on an internationally funded project, The Regulation of International Supply Chains (RISC). The project was led by Copenhagen Business School, Denmark and its partners are BRAC University, Bangladesh, Tufts University, USA and the Danish Ethical Trading Initiative. It was funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the project tried to understand how social sustainability issues like working conditions and OHS are governed in the Bangladesh RMG industry. In particular, it conducted qualitative investigations into the various projects, programs and initiatives that arose after the Rana Plaza tragedy (e.g. the Accord for Bangladesh Worker Safety, the ILO's Better Work Program) in order to understand the effectiveness of different approaches.
