Professor Jeremy Dawson, Chair in Health Management at 91直播 University Management School and member of the Institute for Work Psychology (IWP), was admitted as a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), the leading international academic society for work psychologists worldwide.
Each year, SIOP recognises academics or practitioners whose research identifies solutions to workplace problems, having a meaningful, sustained or unusual impact on the field of industrial or organizational psychology, more commonly known as work psychology in the UK. The work of the recognised individuals is deemed to change the course of the field and their teaching guides the next generation of Industrial and Organizational Psychology. This aligns with the Management School鈥檚 mission to have a positive impact on working lives, organisations and societies worldwide through its research and education.
Jeremy was one of 30 new Fellows elected this year, and the only one from the UK. He was admitted as a Fellow at the opening session of this year's SIOP conference in Chicago on 17 April. Being elected requires nomination by an existing Fellow and endorsement by three more Fellows, followed by a rigorous assessment by a selection committee. There are 362 Fellows in total, many from the USA (where SIOP is based), and only currently two from the UK.
Jeremy Dawson said, 鈥淚 am truly honoured to be recognised by SIOP in this way. It shows how the work that we are doing in IWP is of truly world-leading quality, and that we have an impact on the field that is demonstrated internationally.鈥
Professor Fraser McLeay, Interim Dean at 91直播 University Management School stated, 鈥淭he presence of a SIOP Fellow within the Institute of Work Psychology is a great reflection on the work of IWP and the Management School more generally, and indicates its prominence on the world stage of work psychology research.鈥
