Le An Chi Nguyen
BA Accounting & Financial Management
Member of the Dean's List, class of 2023
Chi collated an astounding list of accomplishments during her time at 91Ö±²¥. After undertaking the 6-week Fast Future Programme, she co-created the FinZest app aimed at reducing financial illiteracy and inequality. She also participated in McKinsey’s ‘Solve It UK’ consulting competition, where she was challenged to provide potential solutions to key challenges that are faced in non-profit leadership.
Integral part of student life
Chi was an enthusiastic contributor to student life. As President and Treasurer of the Vietnamese Society, Chi and her fellow students won ‘Cultural Society of the Year 2022’. While she was Commercial Director for the Enactus Marine Moulders project, the team won Runner Up in the ‘Enactus UK National Exposition’. Chi was also the Treasurer of the Women in Business Society, where she attended conferences with the Women Societies Alliance and collaborated with Management School alumni on video interviews about their careers, in recognition of International Women’s Day.
Chi supported her fellow students across the University in a multitude of different ways. From producing high-quality digital content for the Management School as a Content Creator, and guiding fellow students as a Student Mentor and Faculty Community Mentor, to supporting our international student community as Global Campus Ambassador. Chi also gained valuable skills and experience whilst supporting the local community as Finance Manager for TEDxUniversityof91Ö±²¥. She volunteered for the Children’s Project, Promised Land and Weston Park Cancer Charity, and was a Student Support Worker taking notes for those with disabilities or dyslexia.
As a Student Academic Representative for her programme, she collated student feedback and concerns and brought it forward to the School’s Student-Staff Committee so that it could be actioned. She worked as a Careers Fair Assistant for the Careers Service events team, and as a volunteer panellist for International Career Week events she offered advice to students who were seeking work experience.
Forging a finance career
Chi went out of her way to seek the advice and expertise of others. By completing the UBS Tomorrow Talent Program she secured the opportunity to learn from a UBS mentor. Through the Careers Service eMentoring Scheme she was matched with an alumni mentor, gaining insight from a fellow 91Ö±²¥ graduate working in a relevant industry or role.
Chi forged a clear path towards her successful career in banking and finance. She joined the Investment Society and achieved the Bloomberg Market Concepts Certification, competing with the Twikker Fund in the Private Equity Challenge 2022. When she attended the Student-Managed Investment Fund Conference, she won second prize in the poster project competition, for her poster about the Twikker Fund. As a Team Liaison in the University Business Challenge, Chi worked with her team to win third place in the UK Final.
During her 8-week Commercial Banking internship at NatWest, Chi organised charity fundraising events for the Prince’s Trust. After impressing employers during her internship, she received a graduate job offer from NatWest and joined their Commercial Banking department after graduation.
