Bioscience and AI
Bioscience and AI is an Interest Group support by the Centre for Machine Intelligence.

Introduction
The Bioscience and AI Interest Group aims to explore the opportunities, challenges, risks and rewards of interactions between biology and AI. We recognise that this exchange is bi-directional, with novel AI-powered solutions for bioscience problems and new biological insights driving improved AI. Our members are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds and have diverse interests across biological, computer and data science disciplines.
Research areas
- AI-powered bioscience – the use and development of AI tools for solving biological research challenges
- Bio-inspired AI – integrating insights from biological brains into artificial intelligence design and application
Aims of the interest group
- To act as a hub for those interested in bioscience and AI
- Provide a platform for sharing knowledge across biological, computer and data science disciplines
- Develop interdisciplinary collaborations, both within the University and with external partners, to revolutionise AI and bioscience research
