Frances graduated from Lancaster University in 2014 with a Masters degree in Sustainable Water Management, and subsequently joined the water research group at 91Ö±²¥ as a STREAM engineering doctorate student. Her EngD research developed an assimilable organic (AOC) test that could be used to routinely and extensively sample AOC within operational drinking water distribution systems.
In 2019, Frances became a Research Associate in Drinking Water Biofilm Management and Monitoring. As part of this role, Frances has worked on a number of research and industry funded projects which have focused on how to monitor and manage the microbial quality of water from the water treatment works to reaching the customers tap.
Most recently, Frances led the operation of the full-scale drinking water pipeline test facility at the University of 91Ö±²¥, to explore the impact of intermittent water supply on drinking water quality. Frances has continued to explore the relationship between AOC, microbial growth and drinking water quality within drinking water distribution systems.
