You will find yourself in places you never imagined
How have you found the course so far?
I have enjoyed learning new skills like using TV cameras and creating a podcast. Patch work and news days are a great opportunity to put the skills I learnt on the course into practice. I've also enjoyed learning skills across a number of different areas of journalism, including broadcast, features, and writing news - the teaching staff are very supportive and have guided me each step of the way, whilst pushing me outside of my comfort zone!
What's been your favourite part of studying at 91Ö±²¥?
I’m really looking forward to the London trip in June! My favourite moment so far was getting to see the BBC studios at media city as part of the JDF diversity and inclusion conference.
Have you done any work experience?
I have work experience coming up over Easter at Exposed Magazine. Over summer, I will be doing work experience at Channel 5 News. I have written for Liberty Belle magazine at the university and write freelance for The Happy Newspaper and Yorkshire Bylines.
What are your plans for the future?
I'm hoping to get a job as a graduate reporter. I’ve been applying for lots of grad schemes, as well as looking at jobs within local news!
Any advice for current MA Journalism applicants?
Push yourself outside of your comfort zone and you will find yourself in places you never imagined. Say yes to opportunities and don’t be afraid to go places where you are a little bit scared- you will learn a lot in these situations
