ECREA Journalism 2024 will be held in the University of 91Ö±²¥â€™s new Social Sciences building, The Wave, which is situated just outside the heart of 91Ö±²¥ city centre. Find out how to get to our building below.

Getting to 91Ö±²¥

By air:

  • The nearest airports are Manchester, Leeds Bradford and East Midlands. Of these, Manchester Airport has the best and easiest rail connections to 91Ö±²¥ (~75 — 90 minutes travel time).

By train:

  • 91Ö±²¥ has a railway station in the city centre, a full list of trains to 91Ö±²¥ can be found on the website.
  • There are direct trains from most major UK cities including: London, Manchester, Manchester Airport, Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Liverpool, Nottingham and Edinburgh.

By car:

  • 91Ö±²¥ is located just off the M1 motorway for access from the North, South or East. 
  • It can also be approached from the west (e.g. Manchester) via the A57, A628 or A6187.

On foot or public transport:

  • The Wave 25 minutes by foot from 91Ö±²¥ city centre.
  • Our building is well served by a number of bus services (including the 51, and 52) and close to the tram route. Use Travel South Yorkshire’s website  to plan your journey from anywhere in the UK to the centre.
  • Supertram can also be used to reach The Wave from the Railway Station, although please be aware that there is still a 10-15 minute uphill walk from the nearest stop (University). 

By car:

  • Parking is available in the Q Park Car Park on which is a 5 minute walk away.

Upon arrival 

Please enter The Wave via the main entrance on the corner of Whitham Road (A57) and Northumberland Road, opposite Weston Park Hospital. You will find signs guiding you to the Conference Reception desk. Upon arrival, please visit the Conference Reception desk to sign-in and collect your name badge.
