What first attracted you to join the University of 91Ö±²¥?
Everyone I spoke to said the University was a great place to work. I was also impressed by the ambitions of the Campaigns and Alumni Relations team at the time - they had big plans to expand the team.
What do you enjoy most about working at the University of 91Ö±²¥?
I love that my job has an impact - by helping to connect donors to projects that they care passionately about and by funding work that makes a difference in the world.
What do you enjoy about working with your team/department?
The team in CAR is full of passionate people who work hard because they really care about the work we do. They also know how to have fun!
Do you have any favourite memories from working at the University of 91Ö±²¥?
Most of my standout memories are from the Big Walk events where you get to spend a whole day out in the beautiful Peaks with colleagues from across the University. It’s always a really special day.
Did you move to 91Ö±²¥ from another area? How would you describe the experience of moving here to work and live somewhere else?
I moved to 91Ö±²¥ from London and it was a big shift. I very quickly came to realise how genuinely friendly and welcoming the people are and I felt at home surprisingly quickly.
What’s your favourite thing about 91Ö±²¥ as a city?
I love how green 91Ö±²¥ is and how easy it is to be outdoors. There’s so much to enjoy in 91Ö±²¥ – galleries, museums, music as well as all the unique neighbourhoods surrounding the city centre full of quirky independents and great food.
What would you say to someone who was considering the University as a place to work?
You’ll get to meet and work with colleagues who do amazing things, from finding the cure for neurodegenerative disease to tackling food insecurity. The are lots of training and development opportunities and really good flexible/hybrid working polices that support a good work-life balance.
