Dan Hayman has been awarded the The Dunhill Medical Trust Early Career Fellowship, a prestigious opportunity supporting early career researchers in the field of healthy ageing. This Fellowship will allow Dan to lead an independent research project exploring how different parts of genes are assembled as we age and how this impacts health in later life.

Speaking about the award, Dan said: "I was ecstatic to learn I had been selected for this Fellowship. It’s an incredible opportunity to push forward in the areas of research I find most exciting and contribute new ideas to the ageing field."

The selection process involved an application and interview, with the panel recognising the novelty and potential impact of Dan’s research. Reflecting on this achievement, he added: "This Fellowship means I can independently undertake a research project of my own design while gaining the skills and experience necessary to progress in academia. It’s a crucial step in my journey towards becoming an independent researcher."

Dan is also looking forward to engaging with the Dunhill Medical Trust, collaborating with researchers, stakeholders, and the wider public to help drive meaningful impact.

"I’m excited to work closely with the Dunhill Medical Trust and a diverse network of experts to advance our understanding of ageing. This research has the potential to contribute to healthier ageing for all."
