GP care when you’re away from university

What to do if you’re not in 91Ö±²¥ and you need to see a doctor.

On

We understand that you may leave 91Ö±²¥ whilst studying, for example during vacation time or weekends. However, as you’re a resident at your university address for the majority of the year, the NHS asks that you remain registered at a GP practice near that location.

Seeing a doctor away from 91Ö±²¥

If you’re away from 91Ö±²¥ and need to see a doctor, please go to your local GP Practice and complete a Temporary Resident (TR) form.

They may ask you to re-register there as a full patient. This is your choice, but if you’re returning you’ll have to re-register again in 91Ö±²¥.

It may also mean that important information isn’t readily available about you when you need it (as notes can take many weeks to be transferred back to us).

If the doctor requires additional information, ask the surgery to email us and we’ll aim to give them the relevant information:

Weekends and evenings
