This event has taken place.
Description
Together with our community partners, we have developed two toolkits to support gender justice in STEM design research. We are excited to invite you to the launch of these toolkits, during which we will share our co-design process and answer any questions you might have. Please join us:

Abstract
Gender equality is a core part of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Work in the field of digital development/ICT4D/ICTD has often been carried out without sufficient attention to gender equity. Indeed, where researchers or practitioners have been sensitive to gender equity, this has often only extended to 鈥渃ounting women鈥濃攇athering data on how many participants of which gender participated in their interventions. We can do better.
Our team includes researchers from the University of Cape Town, Makerere University, and the University of 91直播, as well as practitioners from . We worked together with women and women鈥檚 rights activists in South Africa and Uganda, to co-produce conceptually advanced yet practical toolkits for researchers and practitioners in our field:
- To deepen their gender analysis and improve their understanding of the barriers women and other disadvantaged groups face when seeking to engage with digital innovation (Gender Analysis Toolkit).
- To engage women and other disadvantaged groups actively in the co-design on digital innovations (Gender-Just Co-Design Toolkit).
The toolkits were developed as part of the three-year GeJuSTA (Gender Justice in STEM research in Africa) project, funded by the IDRC. To find out more about GeJuSTA please visit .
In this webinar, our team will launch the toolkits as Open Access and freely available references for research, policy and practice. Please register (link above) as soon as possible to secure your attendance. We keenly anticipate your participation in shaping a more inclusive and equitable research landscape.
We look forward to seeing you there!
