Theo joined the department as a Research Associate at the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (CaCHE) in January 2023. His contributions to CaCHE are focused on housing inequalities and alternative approaches to housing. Through a cross-disciplinary approach, Theo is interested in the relationship between and possibilities afforded by housing as a physical space and housing as an embodied set of practices. A specific concern is with the design, distribution, and inhabitation of room, drawing on Marxist, feminist, and postcolonial perspectives to housing and life in cities. His PhD, completed in 2021, explored how and why London as a city affords so little room to migrant workers and families through a multi-sited, politically engaged ethnographic approach to the economies, lived experiences, and politics of overcrowding among migrants living in private rental housing in London.
