Profile

I am currently a Knowledge Exchange and Impact Fellow at the .

In particular, I work across the Midlands and North of England, building networks with policy-makers, practitioners and other relevant stakeholders, developing a better understanding of challenges that the housing system is facing in the ‘north’ of England and exploring existing gaps in evidence in the context of housing policy and practice.

Prior to this, I worked for the Partnerships, Impact and Knowledge Exchange team within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of 91Ö±²¥, again responsible for building partnerships with external stakeholders and government agencies.

In 2015 I completed my ESRC-funded PhD which explored housing-related responses to the 2011 riots, in particular the way in anti-social behaviour powers were deployed as a mechanism to punish social housing tenants involved in urban disorder.

Before this, I did an MA in International Development and Planning, a BSc (Hons) in Property Development and have worked for the Building and Social Housing Foundation (now World Habitat) as well as various roles in the real estate and residential property industries.

Research interests

My research background has primarily focused on social housing policy and the intersection with anti-social behaviour, governance and behaviour control mechanisms.

I have also been involved in various projects that explore planning and housing provision in the UK.

I am also particularly interested in the policy-making process, knowledge exchange and translation of academic research to external audiences and the use of evidence in policy and practice, and I am developing this strand of work in my current role with the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence.
