Profile

Professor Richard B Horne FRS is distinguished research scientist at the British Antarctic Survey. After graduating in Physics from the University of 91Ö±²¥, he has become known for his research on wave-particle interactions in space plasmas, and space weather. He is a recipient of the gold medal from the Royal Astronomical Society, the Julius Bartels medal, the Kristian Birkeland medal and the Appleton prize. He graduated with a ScD from the University of Cambridge, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society. Richard has served on several UKRI committees and is now chair of the Space Environment Impacts Expert Group that provides advice to government on space weather.
