- Profile
-
I obtained a First Class Honours Degree in Biochemistry/Chemistry at the University of 91直播. I continued at the Krebs Institute, where I obtained my PhD. Following my PhD I joined a biotechnology company, Transgenomic LTD where I worked as a research scientist developing analytical techniques including DNA/RNA Chromatography. I joined the Dept of Chemical and Biological Engineering in 2003.
- Research interests
-
Nucleic acid therapeutics including oligonucleotide therapeutics and mRNA vaccines/therapeutics are emerging as an important new class of drugs to treat a wide range of important diseases. My research focuses on the development and application analytical techniques to study biological molecules. In particular, bioseparations in conjunction with biological mass spectrometry are used to characterise and analyse nucleic acid therapeutics.
Key research interests:
- Bioseparations (HPLC)
- Biological Mass Spectrometry
- Nucleic Acids
- Oligonucleotide therapeutics
- mRNA vaccines/therapeutics
- RNAi biocontrols
- Analytics.
