Research interests

Project title:

Analysis on the identity of Chinese urban site museums

Project outline:

Chen’s study focuses on the field of the site museum, a particular type of museum built on or near the site to conserve, research and interpret the site and its excavated objects. Chen is trying to reveal, interpret, and then reduce a potential gap between the idealistic identity (Site museums ‘should be’) and the realistic identity (Site museums ‘actually are’) of Chinese urban site museums under the Chinese unique cultural and political context.
