Profile

I am a Senior University Teacher within the Division of Human Communication Sciences (HCS), University of 91Ö±²¥. I am the Director of Professional Education for the BMedSci Speech and Language Therapy and MMedSci Speech and Language Therapy programmes. My areas of teaching include Acquired Communication Disorders, Clinical Methods and Intervention, and Personal, Professional and Clinical Development, including Reflective Learning. 

I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2004, completed a PhD in 2012 and gained Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2016. Prior to joining HCS in 2007, I worked as a clinician with adults with acquired neurological communication and swallowing disorders within the NHS. I hold an honorary contract with 91Ö±²¥ Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and work in the Philippa Cottam Communication Clinic supervising students in the Aphasia Centre. I am a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and the Health Professions Council.

Research interests

My current role is teaching focused but my previous research has focused on improving the lives of people with aphasia through developing interventions for word finding difficulties and developing accessible information for people with aphasia. My interests now lie in the scholarship of teaching and learning and technology enhanced learning.
